ROFIM and AMA, both members of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Association, unveil the first global surgical teleassistance solution: a major innovation in the world of surgical technology, based on assisted reality technologies.
For this premiere, Rofim et AMA combined their expertises on assisted reality and medical collaboration, in the context of their shared commitment for better patient care and support for healthcare professionals.
A groundbreaking technology thanks to assisted reality
The Ama XpertEye-Rofim platform, developed by these two members of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Association, is encrypted, secure and does not store any data. It will assist surgeons not only during their operation, but also as they prepare for the procedure, and through post-surgical follow-up. Accessible via a web browser, the integrated solution will enable surgeons to be guided by a remote expert. The surgeon will be able to transfer medical files and pre-operation images to the expert, and then share their live impressions thanks to assisted reality.

Indeed, with this innovation, the remote expert will receive several simultaneous video streams from connected glasses, third-party cameras, endoscopy columns… These videos will be enhanced with additional information, thanks to highly advanced functionalities ranging from visual contrast control to video pointing and live document sharing.

This also represents a win-win solution for the professionals involved : surgeons benefit from expertise transfers, and can maintain their activities when facing difficult surgical cases. As for the experts, they can spread their expertise around the world, remotely. This extremely modern technologie can also be used when training junior surgeons in university hospitals.
More importantly, this collaboration is a perfect exemple of an innovation focused on patient benefits, since the people who undergo surgery will above all take advantage of the improvement of operative, pre-operative and post-operative care.

This solution illustrates the huge impact of digital transformation on operating theatres and their vision, in line with the “. It also forms part of the partnership with the , supported by the Institute Mines Telecom, the AP-HP, Paris Saclay University as well as key surgical, anesthesia and digital health manufacturers.
At the BOPA, a first installation has already been performed, initiated by the renowned surgeon Dr Daniel Pietrasz, who sees the use of this platform as a very positive step in promoting new forms of cooperation between care centers. Pr Éric Vibert, a transplant surgeon and founder of BOPA, agrees.

The solution, announced on February 1, 2024, has already been deployed in other healthcare establishments, and implemented by ARS (regional health agencies) and GRADeS (Regional e-Health Development Support Group) in French Guiana and Martinique.
Rofim and AMA also intend to market the solution in France, Germany, China, Japan and the United States.
